Military Medal 'Operations Gravenstafel 29th September - 1st October to 5th October 1817. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On 29th September 1917, as Battalion Runner, when his Battalion took over the Sector near St Jean, although he had not been over the Sector in daylight, found his way to all four Company Headquarters at night during a thick fog and under heavy shellfire with a most important message. His courage, keenness and ability to find his way quickly is a bye-word in the Regiment.'
