Military Medal 'Operations on Welsh and Bon Avis Ridges, 28th September to 1st October 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This man was Section Commander of a Lewis gun team during the advance when a party of the enemy numbering over 100 suddenly appeared out of the darkness, he immediately got his section into action and by the skilful and quick manoeuvring and the boldness with which he rushed his gun forward, succeeded in killing many of the enemy and greatly assisted in the capture of the remainder.'
