Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at La Basse Ville on night of August 3/4th. While erecting entanglements in front of outpost line under the most
adverse weather conditions. This party was constantly exposed to enemy shell and machine gun fire being on the exposed flank. Pte McAndrew worked most
strenuously throughout the night and by his personal example and cheerfulness kept the men of his section working until their task was finished.'
