Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry during the attack east of St Julien on 4/10/17, Corpl Maynard in cooperation with Pte Faithful, rushed a series of shell holes, from which machine gun fire was being brought to bear on the advancing troops, and captured 2 machine guns. This brave act undoubtedly saved a number of valuable
lives, and made the renewal of the advance possible.'
