Military Medal 'For gallantry and great personal bravery at Messines on 7th June 1917. This solider was in a section which went through our own barrage into Messines to put machine guns, which had opened fire from emplacements out of action. He assisted Sergeant Frickleton in capturing two machine guns and in killing their
crews (14 men in all). An enemy machine gun opened fire from the crews of the inch wall of the Institute Royale. Rfm Maubon rushed up bombed the man who was firing his gun and broke the gun. This action was inside our barrage the whole time.'
