Military Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty. Near Gravenstafel on 4th October, as a Stretcher Bearer, he worked under very heavy shell fire with great courage and displayed wonderful endurance. Throughout many weary hours he showed a splendid example in bravery and cheerfulness.'
