Wounded in action, 18 October 1917, and admitted to 2/1 East Lancashire Field Ambulance (mustard gas shell); transferred to No 2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 20 October 1917; to No 14 General Hospital, Wimereux, 22 October 1917; to England, 29 October 1917, and admitted to 1st Birmingham War Hospital, Rednal, 30 October 1917. Transferred to No 1 NZ General hospital, Brockenhurst, 16 November 1917; discharged to NZ Command Depot, Codford, 4 January 1918; attached to NZ Reserve Group, Sling Camp, 4 March 1918.
