Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. During the attack near La Signy Farm on 30th March 1918 he was the leading bayonet man of a mopping up party. He killed ten of the enemy within five minutes and by his splendid dash and gallantry assisted in carrying the attack to a successful conclusion.'
