Military Medal

'On the 26th August 1918 near Bapaume. Bombardier Mander was in charge of a party laying a line to an observation post under heavy fire when one of the signallers was severely wounded by a shell. This Bombardier immediately went in search of a stretcher and got assistance and carried the wounded man to a dressing station through a heavy and continuous shell fire with complete disregard to his personal safety. He has continuously done good work throughout the operations.'
