Proceeded overseas to France, 7 January 1917; disembarked Etaples and marched in to New Zealand Infantry and General Base Depot, 9 January 1917. Joined 1st Battalion, New Zealand Rifle Brigade, in the field, 5 February 1917. Attached to Divisional Train, 20 May 1917; rejoins unit, 19 June 1917. Proceeds to England on leave, 23 January 1918. Admitted to No 2 NZ General Hospital, Walton-on-Thames, 5 February 1918. Under surveillance for venereal disease, 3 November 1918; transferred to No 3 NZGeneral Hospital (Venereal Disease Section), Codford, 5 November 1918. Discharged from No 3 New Zealand General Hospital, Codford, 22 February 1919. Commenced return to New Zealand from Glasgow on board HMNZT 'Bhamo', 10 March 1919.
