Military Medal 'For conspicuous devotion to duty at near St Julien on 12th October 1917. This NCO displayed the greatest coolness in repairing the guns of the battery under enemy fire, and succeeded in keeping them in action throughout prolonged operations at long range. By cheerfully surmounting all difficulties he set a splendid example to the detachments.'
