Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and skilful leadership throughout the operations 14th August to 7th September 1918 in the Puisieux-Bapaume Area. At Puisieux on 14th August he handled his section with great skill and disregard of danger, inspiring his men by his example. On 25th August, on the outskirts of Bapaume he did particularly good work in routing out and destroying enemy machine gun nests. With Lewis gun and rifle this N.C.O. accounted for a conspicuous number of the enemy and during the later operations exhibited a spirit of keenness and fighting intelligence which was always a fine example to the men of his company.'
