Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry. This man was a stretcher bearer and during the operations in the Hebuterne sector on the night of 16th, 17th July 1918, our front line trench was subject to heavy enfilade shell fire causing a number of casualties. Pte MacKlam attended to all wounded and although our C.T's were also under heavy fire he successfully removed all casualties from the shelled area. Throughout the whole operation his devotion to duty and disregard of danger was the means of saving many valuable lives.'
