Military Medal 'For splendid devotion to duty during operations in front of Crevecouer on 8th October 1918. When his section Commander became a casualty Rifleman
MacKinder took control and outflanked the second objective an enemy machine gun post of two guns, killing the crew and enabling the advance of his
platoon to go on unchecked. He set a fine example to the rest of his section and displayed great daring throughout the operations.'
