Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry under heavy shell fire. During the operations nears Ypres on October 12th 1917 he kept the machine guns supplied with ammunition at a critical part of the advance, passing through the heavy enemy barrage several times he located the machine-guns and personally kept up the ammunition supply throughout the day. He afterwards commanded a Sub Section when his section was depleted. He set a splendid example of gallantry to his comrades under heavy fire.'
