Military Medal

'Operations Gravenstafel 1st October to 5th October 1917. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. This Non Commissioned Officer was in command of six teams of the First Line Transport taking rations and supplies up to the Battalions in the Front line, and although under heavy shell fire and on exceedingly difficult ground, he handled his six teams with the greatest skill. The successful delivery of the loads and removal of the teams and vehicles was due solely to his gallantry and leadership. Throughout the period from the 30th September to the 4th October 1917, this Non Commissioned Officer has shown an utter disregard of danger and the greatest devotion to duty.'
