Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and initiative. On the 29th September 1918, near La Vacquerie while acting as No.1 of a Lewis gun Team, Private Lee displayed great gallantry and initiative in pushing forward his gun and completely outflanking the gunners of an enemy battery who were firing over open sights at the troops advancing. His gallantry and bold initiative saved many casualties. Later on the same day he did great execution by the bold and effective use of his gun.'
