Military Medal 'Operations: British Front before Puisieux 16th August 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At 5.15 am on the morning of 16th August, a party of 15 Germans with two machine guns attempted to enter our trench. Private Lauriston gave the alarm and almost immediately a German bomb landed in the trench, wounding the other four men in the Post. At great personal risk Private Lauriston jumped into an exposed position from which he brought rapid fire to bear on the enemy. With the assistance of a wounded Corporal, with great gallantry, he held the enemy till assistance arrived. His coolness at a critical moment prevented the enemy from entering our trenches and saved his wounded comrades.'
