Military Medal 'For exceptional gallantry. In the attack on the village of La Basse Ville by his Company on the morning of the 27th July, this man performed the duties of a runner. Very soon after the beginning of the attack all the other runners became casualties and the work which developed on Larsen's soulders was exceptionally heavy. Despite the enemy's very heavy shelling he carried important messages to all the Platoons from the Company Headquarters and also one message through dense enemy barrage to Battalion Headquarters. No one but an exceptionally brave man could have done what Larsen did during that operation.'
