Meritorious Service Medal 'For gallantry and devotion to duty, especially opposite Warneton. During the day of 4th August 1917 and the whole of the night 4th/5th August 1917 Rifleman Langrish, who is a Stretcher Bearer, tended wounded under shell fire which was at
times intense. He made 3 trips to the regimental aid post with stretcher cases, a distance of 4 miles exposed to fire for the greatest part of the journey, and in most trying weather conditions which made the tracks almost impassable to even
lightly equipped Infantry. His courage and determination were undoubtedly the means of saving a number of lives. During the Messines operations he personally organised carrying parties and displayed conspicuous gallantry as a Stretcher
Bearer. He has always shown initiative and a high sense of duty.'
