Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the field, near Bancourt on the 1st September 1918. During an attack by the Battalion, after the objective was taken, this man, who was acting as runner for the attacking platoon, went along the line under heavy fire and got in touch with both flanks. He also made frequent trips with reports to Company Headquarters through heavy shell and machine gun fire. He was the only bearer of information between the front line and Company Headquarters throughout the day and showed an utter disregard of danger whilst carrying out these duties.'
