Military Medal 'Action in front of Belle Vue Spur, west of Passchendaele, on October 12th 1917, and following days. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. Private Kyle repeatedly led his stretcher squad up to the front line through a sea of mud and under heavy machine gun fire. He brought in many wounded who were lying out and his coolness under fire untiring energy for 56 hours was a magnificent example to the other men. He only desisted when his Officer in charge noticed his exhausted condition and ordered him to rest.'
