Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He led his men with great courage and resource in the attack. After his objectives were captured he led an attack on some "pillboxes" in front of his position, from which the enemy were inflicting casualties with machine guns, and successfully disposed of them. He showed great courage and initiative.'
