Military Medal 'For great bravery and marked devotion to duty during the attack near Beaumont Hamel at 2pm on 30th March 1918. He worked unceasingly as a stretcher bearer bandaging wounded and afterwards carrying them to the rear. At times he was subjected to extremely heavy machine-gun and shell fire but he never ceased in his work. His bravery and heroic conduct was an inspiring example to his comrades.'
