Military Medal 'Operations: West of Bapaume - 25th August 1918. For gallantry and devotion to duty in laying lines and maintaining communication under particularly trying conditions. Telephonic communication between Battalion and Company Headquarters was continuously being interrupted, and this man worked continuously under shell and machine-gun fire repairing breaks in the wire.'
