Military Medal 'For gallant conduct and devotion to duty in operations east of Ypres, 4th October 1917. Early on the morning of the 4th the Platoon Commander, Platoon Sergeant and Corporal were casualties. Lance Corporal Kelliher immediately took command of the platoon, and carried on the work of consolidation, also doing his work as No. 1 of a Lewis gun. His coolness and initiative under heavy shell fire, directed on to our front line, was a shining example of gallant conduct and devotion to duty. Although wounded early, remained on duty.'
