Meritorious Service Medal 'For devotion to duty. This NCO has rendered very valuable services both in and out of the line. As pioneer Sergeant, he has always endeavoured to make the troops as comfortable as possible. He has been with the Battalion since its formation and during that time has rendered exceptionally good service and devotion to duty. It is largely owing to his efforts that the health of the troops has not been impaired under adverse weather conditions.'
