Proceeded overseas to France, 20 October 1916; joined 3rd Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 21 October 1916, and posted to D Company.

Appointed Lance Corporal, 13 October 1917.

On leave to United Kingdom, 21 October 1917; rejoined Bn from leave, 2 November 1917.

Appointed Lance Sergeant to complete establishment, 29 November 1917.

Killed in action, 30 November 1917.
