Military Cross 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty on 28th September, 1918, prior to the attack on the enemy position east of Ribecourt. He took the place of an officer who was wounded while on a forward reconnaissance, and collected useful information, which ensured the easy and correct deployment of the battalion during the darkness. For a week he furnished good information of roads and approaches for transport, etc., having to obtain it almost always under heavy fire.'
