Military Medal 'Through out the night of 6th September during the operations near Havrincourt Wood he worked almost continuously repairing lines between his Brigade Forward Station and the Headquarters of the line Battalions. Hostile artillery fire was intense and persistent and the continual breaking of the lines threatened to hamper important operations that were in progress. Careless of his own safety he remained at his work in the darkness and in spite of the heavy shelling he succeeded in keeping the lines through. His resolute courage materially assisted the operations and was beyond praise.'
