Embarked Wellington, 29 July 1916; disembarked Devonport, England, 28 September 1916, and marched into Sling Camp.

Proceeded overseas to France, 10 October 1916; joined 4th Bn, NZ Rifle Brigade, in the field, 26 October 1916, and posted to D Company.

Wounded in action, 2 February 1917 (gun shot wound, heel), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to 12th Casualty Clearing Station; rejoined unit, in the field, 9 March 1917.

Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 29 April 1917 (diarrhoea); transferred to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance, 2 May 1917; rejoined unit, in the field, 22 May 1917.
