Wounded in action, 23 November 1917 (gun shot wound), and admitted to No 3 NZ Field Field Ambulance, and transferred same day to No 17 Casualty Clearing Station; to No 18 General Hospital, Camiers, 26 November 1917; to No 6 Convalescent Depot, Etaples, 29 December 1917; discharged to Medical Board Depot, 31 December 1917.

Admitted to No 24 General Hospital, Etaples, 26 January 1917; discharged to Medical Board Depot, 4 February 1918.

On leave to United Kingdom, 18 March 1918; rejoined NZ Wing, 8 April 1918, and marched out to 1st NZ Entrenching Bn.

Joined 2nd Bn, Auckland Infantry Regiment, in the field, 29 June 1918.

Wounded in action (second occasion), 30 August 1918 (gun shot wound, left shoulder), admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, and transferred to No 29 Casualty Clearing Station; to Ambulance Train No 10, 31 August 1918, and admitted to No 6 General Hospital, Rouen, 1 September 1918. Transferred to England, 8 September 1918, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst.

Classified unfit by Medical Board, 12 October 1918, and placed on NZ Roll.

Commenced return to New Zealand on board HMNZT 'Ruahine', 8 December 1918; disembarked Auckland; discharged (no longer physically fit for War Service on account of wounds received in action), 15 April 1919.
