Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 5 January 1916. Admitted to No 1 NZ Field Ambulance, 2 July 1916 (contused muscle caused by shell fragment); discharged to unit same day. Transferred to Divisional Ammunition Column, 21 April 1916.
