Military Cross 'Operations: Magdhaba 23rd December 1916. Lieutenant A. B. Johnston with his troop of the 8th Squadron, captured a battery of four mountain guns. This battery had given much trouble and was still firing when Lieutenant Johnston with six men rushed the emplacement, and the garrison consisting of 2 officers and 15 men surrendered.'
