Military Medal

'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. At Colincamps on the Ancre on 5th April 1918, when the enemy attacked in superior force, Sergeant Jepsen's Platoon Officer was killed during the earlier part of the bombardment. This NCO immediately took command and carried on the Officer?s work with great gallantry and initiative. Though the bombardment continued to be intense he moved fearlessly about from post to post in the advanced line, reorganising and building up the garrisons, and cheering on the men. His work was so successful and his gallant example so fine that when the infantry attack developed the enemy found no weak spot anywhere, but was severely dealt with and driven back. His initiative, coolness and boldness throughout were in the highest degree inspiring to his men.'
