Military Medal 'For great gallantry and devotion to duty. Near Gravenstafel on 4th October during the attack, he acted as a platoon commander and displayed fine leadership and coolness, and rendered great assistance to his Company Commander. He showed fine resource in establishing his platoon in a forward position under heavy fire. His leadership throughout was of a high standard, and he set a splendid example to his men.'
