Mention in Despatches 'Operations: Switch Trench, High Wood September 1916. This Officer led the first wave of his Company in the attack on the Switch Line showing great bravery. He was a magnificent example to his men. He fell mortally wounded within 20 yards of the enemy's parapet. Previous to this the work of this Officer has been brought to my notice several times when holding the line of Armentieres during the summer of 1916.' Awarded, and promulgated, 'London Gazette', 1 June 1917. |
