Wounded in action, 6 April 1918 (gun shot wound, left hand), and admitted to No 2 NZ Field Ambulance; transferred to 3rd Casualty Clearing Station, 7 April 1918; to 22nd General Hospital, 7 April 1918; to England, 8 April 1918, and admitted same day to No 1 NZ General Hospital, Brockenhurst; transferred to No 3 NZ General Hospital, Codford, 23 May 1918; to NZ Convalescent Hospital, Hornchurch, 20 june 1918.

Classified 'unfit' by Medical Board, 3 September 1918, and placed on NZ Roll.

Discharged to NZ Discharge Depot, Torquay, 13 September 1918; admitted to Isolation Hospital, Sutton, Surrey, while on leave, 22 September 1918.

Found guilty, 13 October 1918, of being absent without leave from 1600, 11 October, to 1515, 12 October 1918: forfeited 1 day's pay, and 1 day's pay under Royal Warrant.
