Admitted to NZ General Hospital, Cairo, 4 December 1915 (diarrhea); transferred to Aotea Convalescent home, Heliopolis, 21 January 1916 (debility after enteritis); to Convalescent Camp, Zeitoun, 10 February 1916. Transferred to NZ Field Artillery, 11 March 1916. Transferred to 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, 22 March 1916, and posted to 4th Company. Embarked Alexandria to join the British Expeditionary Force, France, 9 April 1916. Admitted to No 3 NZ Field Ambulance, 5 August 1916 (simple flesh wound, right foot; accidental), and transferred to 2nd Australian Casualty Clearing Station; to 3rd Canadian General Hospital, Boulogne, 12 August 1916; discharged to No 7 Convalescent Depot, Boulogne, 14 August 1916; to NZ Base Depot, Etaples, 19 August 1916; rejoined Bn, in the field, 24 August 1916.
