Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack Passchendaele Ridge on 12th October 1917. He was a Company Runner and worked throughout the day carrying messages, all the time exposed to heavy fire. He showed an utter disregard for danger, and was of the greatest assistance to his Company Commander.'
