'Operations on Welsh and Bon Avis Ridges ? 28th September to 1st October 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. When his Platoon was held up by a hostile machine-gun this NCO by skilful leadership led his Section forward and captured the machine-gun and some prisoners. Throughout the whole operations he did valuable work in keeping touch with the Company on his left. He also carried out valuable information of great value to his Company Commander. He showed a splendid example throughout the operations.'
