Military Medal 'Operations: British Front north of Hebuterne on 15th July 1918. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. In a minor attack on Rossignol Wood on the night of the 15th July 1918, this NCO was in command of the two right sections of a platoon which was attacking the Wood with a view of establishing a line of posts within its Northern fringe. On reaching the objective the two sections came under heavy close range machine-gun fire. By conspicuous disregard of danger, coolness under fire, and thorough supervision on the part of this NCO the posts were established and consolidated. He personally secured flank liaison, and next day made a valuable reconnaissance report on the enemy pillbox.'
