'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. On the 26th August, 1918 during operations near Grevillers, Private Bargh while serving as a linesman between Battalion Headquarters and Companies in the forward area repeatedly went out under heavy shell and machine gun fire, in order to mend frequent breaks in the line. By his keen devotion to duty Pte Bargh enabled his Battalion to keep up communications during a most critical period of the operation.'
