Military Medal 'Attack, Switch Line, 15th September and Grid Trench, north West of Flers, 1st October 1916. This man is specially recommended for his gallant work during the attacks on the 15th September, and the 1st October 1916. On the latter occasion when all his officers were casualties, he cheered the men on, and was an example to all ranks. He showed an utter disregard for his own personal safety, and is deserving of special distinction.'
