Military Medal 'For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty at Beaudignies on 1st November 1918. Hickey was in charge of the Brigade Forward Dump, and, during the night the Dump was heavily shelled and caught fire. Hickey at once rushed in and regardless of the exploding ammunition and bombs threw the burning boxes away from the Dump. But for his prompt and brave action the whole of the Dump would have undoubtedly blown up and supplies to the attacking troops temporarily stopped.'
