Military Medal 'Operations: east and West of Bapaume August 24th/ September 29th. For consistent good work and devotion to duty as Company Runner during operations from August 24th to September 29th. This man showed great courage in taking messages to and from Battalion Headquarters and Platoons, on several occasions through heavy barrages of artillery and machine-gun fire. His dogged determination throughout these operations has set a splendid example to all ranks.'
