Wounded in action, 9 January 1918 (multiple gun shot wounds), and relinquished temporary rank, and admitted to 3rd NZ Field Ambulance;, and admitted to 8th Stationary Hospital, Wimereux; placed on 'dangerously ill' list, 15 January 1918 transferred to 2nd Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, 9 January 1918; to Ambulance Train No 17, 14 January 1918.
