Meritorious Service Medal 'For gallantry and consistent devotion to duty in the field during the period 17th September 1918 to 31st December 1918, and during the previous period from 25th February to 16th September 1918. This man has had long and continuous service as a transport driver in bringing up rations to the forward areas during the above periods until the commencement of the Armistice on 11th November 1918, He has always shown great determination as well as an utter disregard for danger in carrying our his work, and by his devotion to duty has set a splendid example to his comrades.'
