War service: Western Front Embarked Wellington, 16 February 1917; admitted to ship's hospital, 25 April 1917 (scalded arm); disembarked Devonport, England, 2 May 1917, and admitted to Military Hospital. Taken on strength, NZ Command Depot, Codford, from hospital, 21 May 1917. Marched out to Sling Camp, 13 June 1917. Proceeded overseas to France, 6 July 1917; joined 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment, in the field, 9 August 1917, and posted to 14th Company. Killed in action, 12 October 1917.
