War service: Western Front Court of Enquiry, 19 November 1917; statement by 29559 Pte R. OATS, 10th Company, 2nd Bn, Otago Infantry Regiment: 'I saw Pte Henson at the Assembly Point prior to the advance on Belle Vue Spur. There was heavy artillery & machine gun fire & the Coy suffered heavy casualties. I did not see Henson again. He did not come out the trenches with the Coy.' Court concluded: 'Missing believed killed 12th Oct. 1917 prior to the advance on Bell Vue Spur.' Medals: British War Medal, Victory Medal |
